Manny Ramirez suspended for 50 games

Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez has been suspended for 50 games for using of performance-enhancing drugs.  He will be eligible to come back around July 3rd depending on rainouts.

Wow!  Talk about a shot to your fantasy team.  Every time he does something ridiculous, everyone just says, "Oh that's just Manny being Manny".  Well "Manny being Manny" is going to cripple a lot of fantasy teams.  Because its a suspension and not an injury, he'll be listed as an NA and will basically just sit there and chew up a roster spot for the remainder of the first half of the season.  That's just the first half of this debacle.  The other half is, how in the world do you replace a Manny Ramirez?  Its simple... you don't.  He's a .348 hitter with 6 homers and 20 RBI.  You're not going to find a replacement for that on waivers.  In a head to head league, its not too bad.  You'll have him for the second half and the playoffs, but for points based and roto leagues, this is a tough pill to swallow.  A lot of owners, including myself, are going to have to make a tough decision.  Drop him and hope you can reacquire him before someone else does?  Or just hold onto him, play shorthanded and hope you're not too far out of it by July.  With A-Rod and Josh Hamilton getting injected into my lineup next week, I'll probably opt for the latter, but not everyone will have that luxury.

If you're a Manny owner what are your thoughts?  Drop?  Keep?  Try to trade him?  If you're not a Manny owner, are you going to try and swing a deal for him?  If I didn't already own him, I probably would because his stock is incredibly low right now and can probably be had pretty cheap.

So how does a suspension work?  Is he still getting paid while he sits on his tokus for 50 games?

Nope, he won't get paid, which means he's losing $7.7 million.
