In the history of the NFL there have been many elite teams. The '78 Steelers, the '85 Bears, the '72 Dolphins, the '89 49ers, etc. But which team is the best of all time? You could argue for hours and hours over who would win if two of these powerhouses were to play or you can check out the Fantasy Bowl I tournament and see for yourself, just who is the greatest football team of All Time right here at The Fantasy Factor.
Starting January 3rd, twelve of the greatest teams of all time will complete in the ultimate fantasy football playoff tournament. Each matchup will play out through a computer simulation in which the winner will move closer to becoming the greatest football team of all time. You can view the results, the story and the stats from each game on the Fantasy Factor. These fantasy playoffs will run parallel to the real NFL playoffs and conclude on Super Bowl Sunday with the first ever Fantasy Bowl.
The first four teams eliminated from the 2009 tournament will not be eligible to return until 2011. The remaining 8 teams that will return next year will conduct an off season draft in which they will be allowed to select one player (QB, RB, WR or TE) from a team that is not already participating in the tournament. So if your favorite team doesn't win, don't worry, there's always next year.
To determine which teams compete and how they'll be seeded, you, the
fans, can cast your vote for the team you believe is the greatest of
all time. This team does not need to be a Super Bowl champion. Just supply the year (1950-2007) and the team. The more
votes a team receives, the higher this team will be seeded. Submit
your votes through the Fantasy Factor contact form or through the SteelerNATION homepage.
There isn't a franchise limitation. Seeing as this is a Pittsburgh
news site, I wouldn't be surprised to see two different Steelers teams voted
in (ex: '78 Steelers and '05 Steelers).
Voting ends December 31st
