-Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock considers former Penguins forward Rob Brown (above) the best junior player he's ever seen.

-Happy 54th birthday to former Penguins all-star forward Pierre Larouche (right). The Penguins' first-round pick in the 1974 draft, Larouche recorded the first season of 100 or more points (111) and 50 or more goals (53) in Penguins history during the 1975-76 season as a 20-year-old.
Atlantic Division
-The Islanders recalled defenseman Andrew MacDonald from Bridgeport of the AHL to replace defenseman Brendan Witt who has been excused from the team for personal reasons.
-The Devils will try to run their road record to 10-0-0 in Philadelphia tonight.
-Former Flyers legend and general manager Bobby Clarke endorsed the Hockey Hall of Fame credentials of former player Eric Lindros, a player he clashed with heavily.
Northeast Division
-Is struggling Senators forward Jonathan Cheechoo a one-hit wonder?
Southeast Division

-Jussi Jokinen's shootout goal gave the Hurricanes a 5-4 win against the Wild and ended a 14-game losing streak for Carolina. Ray Whitney led the Hurricanes with a goal and two assists while teammates Joe Corvo and Brandon Sutter each contributed a goal and an assist. Michael Leighton (above, stopping Minnesota's Mikko Koivu) made 28 saves in the win. Robbie Earl led the Wild with two goals.
-"It's one of the best feelings in the world." - Jokinen on breaking the streak.
-Slava Kozlov had his first goal of the season and an assist and led the Thrashers to a 3-2 defeat of the Oilers. Teammate Rich Peverly added two assists while former Penguin Johan Hedberg made 34 saves in the win. Fire Craig Patrick.
-Edmonton goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin not feeling it:

-Thrashers defenseman Pavel Kubina is dealing with a "lower-body" injury.
-Former Penguins forward Ryan Malone has become a leader on the Lightning. Fire Ray Shero.
-The Panthers are in the midst of an ownership shakeup. Essentially, two minority owners are taking control of the club from the majority owner.
Central Division

-Brent Seabrook's (above) overtime goal gave the Blackhawks a 4-3 win against the Sharks. Duncan Keith and Jonathan Toews each had two assists for Chicago which is on a four-game winning streak. Jason Demers led San Jose with a goal and an assist.
-"I didn't see (Seabrook) but I just heard him screaming like a girl almost, so I knew it was him and he was wide open." - Toews on the play that set up Seabrook's goal.
-With forward Kris Versteeg scratched for undisclosed reasons, the Blackhawks recalled forward Bryan Bickell from Rockford of the AHL.
-To say the least, the wedding of Blue Jackets defenseman Anton Stralman was unusual.

-Columbus goaltender Steve Mason is dealing with a back ailment.
Northwest Division
-Despite being the Avalanche's leading scorer with 14 points, Avalanche forward Paul Stastny (right) hasn't scored a goal since Oct. 24.
-Wild forward Benoit Pouliot is dealing with an "upper-body" injury.
Pacific Division
-Arizona Republican Sent. John McCain is a fan of the Coyotes. They're the ones with Joe Greene and L.C. Greenwood right?
Adams Division
-"It's been a mess for years and years and years." - Former NHL star Jeremy Roenick on the NHLPA.
-"Sara O'Malley had two assists for the Robert Morris women's team in a 2-2 tie at Niagara.
-Today would've been the 84th birthday of former Pittsburgh Hornets forward Ray Powell.
