POSTGAME

-Wow. Wow. Wow. There are times we want to swear in this forum. Mostly those are negative times. Like when someone goes offsides or makes a bad clearing attempt. Then there are times like tonight when something simply amazing happens and you want to scream a four-letter word in amazement. This is one of those times.
-This was obviously an amazing game. There was just about everything. Hitting, scoring, skating, big saves, mistakes, heros, villians, a little controversy and most importantly, entertainment. That was easily the best regular season game so far in 2009-10.
-What can you say about Evgeni Malkin? Who has the guts to make that pass with less than two seconds left under those circumstances? Dan Bylsma even said everyone was shouting "shoot" at Malkin when he dished the pass to Guerin.
-Malkin indicated he didn't see a clean shot when he decided to make the pass and that's why he opted to dish the puck to Guerin. Still, how many other players have the confidence to make that pass?
-What about Guerin? He had drawn the ire from some fans for hitting a slump as of late. He responded in a big, clutch fashion.
-Guerin speaks. On the game-tying goal:
"It's coming. You just try to get ready for (the pass). And you have to get it off as quick as you can. That's what I did and it just found a way in."
-Ever see a goal scored later:
"Not off my stick."
-On Malkin:
"He brings a lot of energy. He's a pretty energetic guy. He doesn't show that side to a lot of people. But just the way he plays picks the guys up. It looks to me (Sidney Crosby) was excited to have him back, to play with him. The two-headed monster. They had (Ruslan Fedotenko) working his butt off for them all night. That line had a good night. It was good to see."
-And what about Pascal Dupuis? Two goals from the man with no shot? His overtime goal was the 100th of his career.
-On a night they got Malkin back, they also found a way to get oodles of secondary scoring from the likes of Dupuis, Eaton and McKee.
-Bylsma speaks. On Malkin:
"The speed of which he can attack up the ice, it allows other people to get open. It drives defesemen back. And in the offensive zone, when he's holding on to the puck and moving his feet. The combination of (Crosby) and him together tonight, it's a tough combo to handle. And they were certainly putting them back on their heels at times."
-Neither goaltender was sharp tonight. Each made a few tough saves but each also gave up some tough goals.
-How heads up was Jordan Staal in setting up Dupuis' second goal?
-Shots ended up tied, 33-33.
-Staal led the game with five.
-The only Penguins' skaters who failed to record a shot were Goligoski, Adams and Letestu.
-Sturm, Morris and Ryder each had four for Boston.
-Goligoski led the game with 28:08.
-Chara led the Bruins with 24:33.
-The Bruins controlled faceoffs, 34-29 (54 percent).
-Bergeron was 15 for 25 (60 percent).
-Crosby was 13 for 26 (50 percent).
-McKee led the game with six blocked shots.
-Eaton was second with five.
-Wideman, Ference, Krejci and Hunwick led Boston with two each.
-Ben Lovejoy recorded his first official NHL point.
-Jay McKee scored his first goal in over a year. His last score came with the Blues in a 6-1 rout of the Stars, Oct. 16, 2008.
