-Happy 50th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Marc Chorney. Chorney's horrendous minus-30 rating in the 1982-83 campaign was only fifth-worst rating on that season's squad.
Atlantic Division

-Blake Comeau and former Penguins prospect Matt Moulson each had a goal and an assist for the for the Islanders who beat the Thrashers, 6-3. John Tavares and Nate Thompson each contributed two assists while Dwayne Roloson made 31 saves in the win. Maxim Afinogenov led Atlanta with two assists.
-New York's Josh Bailey and teammates wore their classic blue throwbacks:

-David Clarkson and Zach Parise each had a goal and an assist for the Devils who edged the Senators, 3-2. Captain Jamie Langenbrunner contributed two assists while Martin Broderu made a "whopping" 19 saves in the win. With 22 points, the Devils are only two points behind the Penguins in the Atlantic Division.
-Shootout goals by Claude Giroux and Mika Pyorala gave the Flyers a 2-1 defeat of the Blues. Ray Emery made 30 saves in the win.
-Philadelphia's Arron Asham and St. Louis' Cam Janssen pounded the tar out of each other:
-St. Louis' Chris Mason pulled his glove hand away quickly when he saw the mouth of Philadelphia's Scott Hartnell:

-Islanders defenseman Radek Martinek will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL in his right knee.
-Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist is dealing with what is believed to be a thigh or groin injury.
Northeast Division

-Zdeno Chara had a goal and an assist for the Bruins who beat the Sabres, 4-2. Teammate Steve Begin added two assists while Tuukka Rask (above) made 28 saves in the win.

Southeast Division

-Two goals and two assists from Mike Knuble helped the Capitals beat the Panthers, 7-4. Tomas Fleischmann (above, with Knuble) added two goals while teammate Brooks Laich contributed a goal and an assist for the Capitals who scored five goals in the third period. Washington now has 24 points, just as many as the Penguins who still lead the Eastern Conference on account of a record-based tiebreaker. Dmitry Kuklikov led Florida with a goal and an assist.
-The Capitals put up a lot of goals despite playing without forward Alex Ovechkin and defensemen Mike Green and Jeff Schultz.

Central Division
-Things keep getting worse for the Hurricanes. Steve Mason made 24 saves and led the Blue Jackets to a 3-2 defeat of the Hurricanes. Carolina has lost 12 consecutive games.
-A goal and an assist from Cody Franson helped the Predators win at Los Angeles, 3-1. Teammate Martin Erat added two assists while Dan Ellis made 27 saves in the win.
-Red Wings forward Jason Williams suffered a fractured right fibula last night. The video is a little graphic:

-Detroit forward Patrick Eaves is dealing with a bruised foot.
-The Blackhawks demoted forward Bryan Bickell to Rockford of the AHL.

-A goal and an assist from Daymond Langkow helped the Flames beat the Rangers, 3-1. Former Rangers forward Nigel Dawes recorded three assists while Miikka Kiprusoff made 32 saves in the win.
-Marek Zidlicky had a goal and an assist and led the Wild to a 3-2 defeat of the Stars. Niklas Backstrom made a "whopping" 19 saves in the win. Loui Eriksson scored both of Dallas' goals.

Adams Division
-Greg Wyshynski of Yahoo! profiles the ten worst injuries in the NHL the past decade.
-Kitchener Rangers forward Ben Fanelli was released from a hospital. He suffered a fractured skull after a violent collision with Erie Otters forward Michael Liambas last week.
-Denny Urban scored the Robert Morris mens' team's only goal in a 6-1 loss at No. 11 Bemidji State.
-Daneca Butterfield made 34 saves for the Robert Morris' women's team in a 3-2 overtime loss at Wisconsin.
-Today would've been the 95th birthday of former Pittsburgh Hornets goaltender Jimmy Franks.
-Today would've been the 99th birthday of former Pittsburgh Hornets forward Bob Gracie.
