-Adam Berkhoel made 34 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 5-2 loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones.
-Former Penguins forward Alexandre Daigle, the first overall pick in the 1993 draft, has joined Langnau in Switzerland.
Atlantic Division
-The Flyers have re-created their own version of the "French Connection" with a line of Simon Gagne, Claude Giroux and Ian Laperriere.
-"I would absolutely lose my mind." - Flyers coach John Stevens on the idea of his players using Twitter during games.
Northeast Division

-Marc-Andre Fleury (8-0-0) is the only goaltender with a better record than Buffalo's Ryan Miller (above) who is 5-0-1.
-Sabres defenseman Toni Lydman is dealing with a groin injury.
-Canadiens forward Scott Gomez denied a report he fought teammate Sergei Kostitsyn at a party.
-The Senators demoted forward Jesse Winchester to Binghamton of the AHL for conditioning purposes.
-Ottawa forwards Milan Michalek ("upper-body), Jason Spezza (undisclosed) and goaltender Pascal LeClaire (illness) are dinged up.
Southeast Division
-Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin was fined $2,500 for a slew foot on Atlanta forward Rich Peverly.
-The Penguins Capitals are struggling on the power play.
-Thrashers goaltender Kari Lehtonen experienced a setback in his recovery from offseason back surgery.
-Only the Maple Leafs have scored fewer goals than the Panthers this season.
-The Staals Millers (Buffalo's Ryan and Tampa Bay's Drew) are brothers.

Central Division

-David Perron had a goal and an assist for the Blues in a 3-1 defeat of the Wild. Chris Mason (above) made 20 saves in the win.
-St. Louis' B.J. Crombeen went at it with former Penguins forward Nathan Smith:

-Red Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi is still not popular in Colorado.
-Blue Jackets forward Samuel Pahlsson will face former Ducks teammate Ryan Getzlaf for the first time.
Northwest Division
-Two goals and an assist by Paul Stastny helped the Avalanche edge the Hurricanes, 5-4. Teammates Ryan O'Reilly and Wojtek Wolski each added a goal and an assist while Craig Anderson made 32 saves in the win which was the fifth in seven games for Colorado. Tuomo Ruutu had a goal and an assist for Carolina.
-Avalanche forward Darcy Tucker was injured on a hit from behind by Ruutu. Tucker was carried off the ice on a stretcher:
-Ruutu deserves some sort of suspension for that hit. It was from behind and it was late.
-Marek Svatos was surrounded by Hurricanes in this photo:

-Avalanche captain Adam Foote is doing the Mario Lemieux/Sidney Crosby thing with rookie forward Matt Duchene.
-Vancouver forward and former Penguin Mikael Samuelsson might be the best free agent signing from this past offseason.
-Canucks forward Pavol Demitra had a setback in his recovery from his shoulder surgery.
-The OIlers recalled defenseman Theod Peckham from Springfield of the AHL.
-The Wild tied a franchise record with its seventh consecutive road loss. Additionally, defenseman Kim Johnsson suffered an "upper-body" injury.

Pacific Division
-Sharks forward Dany Heatley (right) makes his return to Atlanta.
-The Ducks recalled forward Matt Beleskey from San Antonio of the AHL.
-The Stars demoted forward Francis Wathier to Texas of the AHL.
-The Kings' win Thursday against the Stars gave coach Terry Murray 400th career wins.
-Los Angeles signed defenseman Davis Drewiske ($600,000 per season) and goaltender Jonathan Quick ($1.8 million per season) to three-year contract extensions.
-The Coyotes recalled defenseman Sean Sullivan from San Antonio of the AHL.
Smythe Division
-Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper threw his support behind the idea of franchises in Quebec City, Winnipeg and Hamilton.
-The Robert Morris men's team team fell to Ferris State, 5-4, in overtime.
-The Robert Morris women's team beat Maine, 4-1.
