Atlantic Division

-The Devils put defenseman Cory Murphy on waivers.

Northeast Division

-The Bruins demoted former Penguins forward Guillaume Lefebvre to Providence of the AHL.

-Bruins forward Milan Lucic's (right) broken right index finger is expected to keep him out of the lineup four to six weeks.

-Senators forward Ilya Zubov will play for Salavat Yulaev of the KHL this season. He is being loaned by Ottawa.

-Sabres forward Clarke MacArthur was asked to wear a surgical mask by head coach Lindy Ruff because Ruff didn't want the rest of the team to catch MacArthur's flu bug on a flight to Florida.

-The Canadiens announced the dates they will wear their centennial jerseys this season.

Southeast Division

-The Lightning recalled defenseman Matt Smaby from Norfolk of the AHL.

-The Capitals demoted forward Keith Aucoin to Hershey of the AHL.

-This is a few days old but check out this sweet goals Thrashers forward Maxim Afinogenov scored against his former team, the Sabres, Saturday night:

-There are all kinds of Penguins connections with this next item. The Chicago Wolves, the Thrashers' AHL affiliate, fired coach Don Granato, brother of Penguins assistant coach Tony Granato. While the team searches for a replacement, general manager and former Penguins goaltender Wendell Young will run practices on an interim basis along with senior advisor/director of hockey operations and former Penguins coach Gene Ubriaco.

Central Division

-The Predators put captain Jason Arnott on injured reserve due to an unspecified injury involving his left arm.

-The acquisition of forward Andrew Ebbett off waivers from the Ducks will likely keep Blackhawks forward Jack Skille, a first-round pick in 2005, in Rockford of the AHL for the time being.

-Despite his thuggish reputation, Red Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi has only been in 22 official fights during his 13-year NHL career.

Northwest Division

-A goal and an assist from Patrick O'Sullivan helped the Oilers claim a 2-1 win against the rival Canucks.  Nikolai Khabibulin mad 39 saves in the win.

-Edmonton's Zach Stortini had a pretty frantic fight with Vancouver's Rick Rypien:

-Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo kept his eye on the blurry puck:

-The Avalanche officially confirmed it will not be returning rookie forwards Matt Duchene or Ryan O'Reilly to their junior teams. O'Reilly is a former member of the Erie Otters.

-Wild coach and former Wilkes-barre/Scranton coach Todd Richards is frustrated by his current team's poor start.

Pacific Division

-Devin Setoguchi had two goals and an assist for the Sharks in a 7-3 rout of the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Teammates Patrick Marleau added a goal and two assists while Dany Heatley recorded a goal and an assist. Sean Avery had two assists for New York which had a seven-game winning streak snapped.

-Sharks forward Joe Thornton had to get some elevation to avoid this check:

-A goal and two assists by Ryan Smyth helped the Kings win at Dallas, 4-1. Justin Williams added a goal and an assist while Dustin Brown contributed two assists for Los Angeles which ended a three-game losing streak.

-Turco and Kings forward Michal Handzus failed miserably on their high-five attempt:

-Kings forward Alexander Frolov, a former 30-goal scorer, was a healthy scratch last night. Kings coach Terry Murray had some less than glowing remarks about Frolov's play as of late.

Versus had a similar commercial on last night for the Bruins/Red Wings game where some guys says his pregam ritual is to stick pins in his Sidney Crosby bobble head doll...it then goes to a shot of Geno shaking his head disapprovingly.  It's quite funny (despite the fact that Malkin doesn't have to try to talk in English).  Can't seem to find it on the internets though....
