Penguins

-If you happen to be at Wide World of Indoor Sports in North Smithfield, R.I. Sunday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m... anndddd... you're a fan of Mark Eaton (above) and/or the Stanley Cup... good news.

-Paul Bissonnette is facing some long odds to make the Penguins' NHL roster out of training camp.

-Miroslav Satan was spotted skating at the Islanders' practice rink yesterday.

-The last high steel structural beam will be placed at Consol Energy Center today.

-The PensBlog ranks the top ten names in Penguins history. If you ask us, Sheldon Kannegiesser, Orest Kindrachuk, Kjell Samuelsson, Ziggy Palffy, Jock Callander, Jarkko Ruutu or even Miroslav Satan deserve some room on the list.

-Former Penguins forward Bryan Trottier (right) is running a hockey camp in Midland, Ont.

-It looks like former Penguins forward Nils Ekman has joined the equivalent of a minor league team in Russia. After leaving SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL, he is now with HC VMF St. Petersburg which is in a lower division.

-Speaking of SKA St. Petersburg, former Penguins defenseman Sergei Zubov officially signed with the team.

-Happy 59th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Steve Cardwell.

Atlantic Division

-Check out Flyers goaltender Ray Emery's new lid with a Philadelphia boxing theme.

-New Devils coach Jacques Lemaire, who rotated his team's captaincy his eight years with the Wild, said Jamie Langenbrunner will remain New Jersey's captain.

-Road Trip Alert: The Islanders will make individual tickets available for sale beginning Saturday. The Penguins play on Long Island Oct 3, Nov. 27 and April 11.

Northeast DIvision

-New Canadiens forward Scott Gomez (right) is learning French.

-A week after the NHL's Winter Classic on New Year's Day, Fenway Park will host a doubleheader between New Hampshire's and Northeastern's women's teams and Boston College's and Boston University's men's teams.

Southeast Division

-The insecurity of Capitals fans has reached a new low. They're now complaining about the rankings of their players on NHL 2010 being lower than those of the Penguins' players.

Central Division

-The Buffalo cab driver who accused Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane and his cousin of assaulting him wants to settle things out of court.

Northwest Division

-The Oilers re-signed defenseman Ladislav Smid to a two-year deal. The team also re-signed former Penguins forward Ryan Stone (right) and forward Gilbert Brule to one-year two-way deals.

-In other news, Fleer apparently has staggeringly low standards for the term "sensation."

Pacific Division

-The Sharks re-signed goaltender Thomas Greiss to a two-year deal and signed free agent goaltender Henrik Karlsson.

Norris Division

-The NHL officially announced the entire preseason schedule.

-James Mirtle has all your preseason games at neutral sites.

-Who are the top 10 favorites for the Calder Trophy next season?

-Icethetics has a sneak peek at Canada's jerseys for the 2010 Olympics.

-Alabama-Huntsville's application to join the CCHA was denied.

The CCHA's decision, while arguably a good decision when viewed from the standpoint of the individual schools, is a horrible decision for College Hockey in general.
