Going to arbitration - 7-6-09

Twenty restricted free agents have elected to go to arbitration with their teams. They are:

  • Nigel Dawes, LW - Phoenix Coyotes

  • Jiri Hudler, C - Detroit Red Wings
  • Matt Hunwick, D - Boston Bruins
  • Aaron Johnson, D - Chicago Blackhawks
  • Milan Jurcina, D - Washington Capitals
  • Clarke MacArthur, LW - Buffalo Sabres
  • Marc Methot, D - Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Tomas Plekanec, C - Montreal Canadiens
  • Tuomo Ruutu, C - Carolina Hurricanes
  • Matt Smaby, D - Tampa Bay Lightning
  • Nate Thompson, C - New York Islanders
  • Kyle Wellwood, C - Vancouver Canucks
  • Daniel Winnik, C - Phoenix Coyotes

Teams have until 5 p.m. today to file for arbitration with players. Hearings will be held July 20 through Aug. 4.

Not gonna happen but just gotta say - wouldn't Colby Armstrong look good in a Pens jersey again? Been there done that, but he's a perfect fit on this team. Just sayin I miss Colby.

Maybe Shero, beong the patient man that he is, waits to see if Atlanta accepts the arbitration award or cuts Colby loose.  Then, maybe, just maybe, we have a shot.  Agreed, he'd be a perfect fit.  Hey, maybe we can send Dupuis back for Colby?

I know it most likely won't happen, but the dirty thought of Army in a Pens uni popped into my head as soon as I saw Colbs elected to go to arbitration.
