According to Dave Molinari, Rob Scuderi has signed with the Kings.
This post, unlike the last one, is legit.
Scuderi had a career year last season scoring 16 points (one goal, 15 assists) in 81 games. His biggest value was on defense where he turned into one of the Penguins' best defensive players and top penalty killers.
Terms of the deal have not been released.
EN Says: The destination for Scuderi might be a bit of a surprise given his roots on the East Coast, but the fact that he left isn't. He had a career year and had a chance to cash in. And he'll never have another time in his career where he'll have more value. It's hard to begrudge him for jumping ship.
The departures of Scuderi and Gill make signing another defenseman (or re-signing Philippe Boucher) an immediate priority for the Penguins.
The Kings are going to have a pretty deep group of defensemen next season. They already had Drew Doughty, Matt Greene, Sean O'Donnell, Tom Preissing, Kyle Quincey and Peter Harrold under contract next season. And Jack Johnson is currently a restricted free agent. Assuming they hang on to all those players and all of them remain healthy, they'll have a pretty dercent blueliner sitting as a healthy scratch most nights.
UPDATE: Dave Molinari has the terms as four years for an annual salary cap hit of $3.4 million. That was cleary out of the Penguins' range.
