New Penguins forward Mike Rupp had some rather interesting comments regarding the Penguins' pursuit of his talents. From The Record's Tom Gulitti:
"Pittsburgh was a team that my agent and I felt that they were really
coming at us pretty good. They impressed us and we were
looking at how teams were coming at us and we felt that Pittsburgh was
really looking like they wanted to sign me and it just worked out. This
is where I want to be and it's a great situation."
"I know my agent had spoken to them, but we didn't overly get into what
other teams were talking about because of the way the Penguins were
handing the situation and that's the route that we went. I
hold the Devils' organization in very high regard, but it was just that
(the Penguins) impressed me and not just because they won the Cup this
year. I was impressed with the way that organization is structured and
the direction it's going. That was a big part of it."
Additionally, Rupp has a summer home in Saegertown which is a little north of Conneaut.
