Heatley snubs deal, for now- 7-1-09

Andddd.... it's officially silly season.

The Senators and Oilers had a deal worked out that would send disgruntled forward Dany Heatley to Edmonton in exchange for forwards Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and defenseman Ladislav Smid. Heatley would not waive his no-trade clause and killed the deal.

EN Says: Heatley is really coming off as a cry baby in this whole ordeal. He has a deal with a no-trade clause and he's demanding a trade. The Senators work out a deal that would seemingly benefit them and he puts the kibosh on it. Ottawa is trying to accomodate him. Maybe he should try to accomodate them as well.

We're sure the Penguins would not have cried too many tears seeing Heatley go to the Western Conference. He always seems to rip up the Penguins. He had three goals and three assists in four games against them last season.

UPDATE: TSN's Bob McKenzie has updated his story to indicate the deal is technically in limbo.

Sens and sensibility, not.

Guess they won't take him back in Atlanta either?

What is really aggrivating to me is that I believe this is the same guy that caused an accident that killed his friend.  Granted accidents happen but guess what Danny... your still alive and your still making millions of dollars a year.  Ask your friend if he would mind playing in Edmonton right now.
