The Flyers have signed former Colorado forward Ian Laperriere (above, with a... stunning nose) to a three-year deal worth $1.17 million per season. Laperriere had 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) in 74 games.
EN Says: Laperriere is a solid tough player who has some value, but the Flyers have two guys like this already on the roster in Arron Asham and Daniel Carcillo. Laperriere's maybe a little bit more savvy or disciplined than those two, but he offers the same type of game. It's not a bad signing in terms of what he brings to the ice but it's just unnecessary. Off the ice, it's a bad signing given how tight the Flyers' salary cap is. This is money that could've been spent on a better back up goaltender than Brian Boucher.
