It's official. The Blues will play in the Winter Classic as a road team, win, then lose the Stanley Cup final. They have signed Ty Conklin according to TSN.
Conklin served as a "backup" to Chris Osgood in Detroit last season going 25-11-2 with a 2.51 goals against average, .909 save percentage and six shutouts.
The deal is for two years at $1.3 million.
EN Says: Nice move for the Blues. Chris Mason did a nice job down the stretch in net to get this team into the playoffs. In fact, he might've been the Blues' MVP but he faltered come playoff team. Conklin isn't a guy who will get you to a Stanley Cup, but he's a nice option if your starter isn't up to task. He'll probably split time with Mason throughout the season.
What's up with all the Red Wings' former Penguins bolting for Central Division rivals? Does this mean Mikael Samuelsson will sign with Columbus? Will FSN Detroit's Larry Murphy jump to the Predators' radio team?
