Canadiens sign Cammalleri - 7-1-09

The Canadiens make another big move as they sign former Flames forward Mike Cammalleri to a five-year deal worth $6 million a season. Cammalleri had a fantastic season for Calgary in 2008-09 as he scored 82 points (39 goals, 43 assists) in 81 games.

EN Says: Nice signing but that's a lot of money for a guy who has little playoff experience. In his first taste of NHL postseason action last season, he had three points (one goal, two assists) in six games.

That said, Cammalleri's a legit player. He can be streaky some times, but he's physical, and he scores tons of goals and he scores them when they matter during the regular season. He led Caglary with six game-winners last season.

It's been kind of interesting to see the Canadiens re-build their team dramatically within the past 48 hours.
