Northeast Division
-The Bruins signed general manager Peter Chiarelli to a multi-year extension.
Southeast DIvision
-The Hurricanes signed head coach Paul Maurice was given a three-year contract extension. Assistant coach and former Penguins captain Ron Francis was given the additional role of director of player development while goaltending coach and former Penguins goaltender Tom Barrasso was named assistant coach.
-Does the success of the Penguins give the Capitals hope?
Central Division
-While Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg jumped on the "Sidney Crosby is evil" bandwagon, Detroit captain Nicklas Lidstrom played off the handshake snafu as Crosby simply being excited after winning the Stanley Cup.
-Former Penguins forward Marian Hossa wants a long-term deal from the Red Wings. The Red Wings want someone who can score goals in the Stanley Cup final.

-Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom (right, with Brooks Orpik), who failed to score in 19 playoff games, was dealing with a bad ankle this postseason.
-The Predators named former forward Martin Gelinas director of player development.
Northwest Division
-The Wild fired assistant general manager Tom Lynn.
Pacific Division
-A judge rejected the sale of the Coyotes to Jim Balsillie. The ruling did not eliminate the chance he could still purchase the team and move them.
-Former Penguins forward Stu Barnes will remain a part of Dallas' new coaching staff.
