-Crains Business Detroit has more information on why the NHL is allowing NBC to call the shots with regards to viewing parties.

Northeast Division

-The Flyers are still talking to former Senators goaltender Ray Emery (right).

-Ray Boe, the original owner of the Islanders, passed away.

Southeast Division

-The Thrashers re-signed forward Marty Reasoner to a two-year deal.

Pacific Division

-The Ducks re-signed forward Mike Brown to a two-year deal.

-Ducks forwards Erik Christensen (shoulder), George Parros (hand) and Petteri Nokelainen (abdominal muscle) each underwent surgery last week.

Patrick Division

-Even if he's stuck with ESPN, broadcaster Gary Thorne still loves hockey.

TSN is reporting that Brent Sutter will step down as Devils coach today for personal/family reasons.  Will be interesting to see if anything happens with him and Calgary, although the Flames would need permission from the Devils to speak with him.

Seth, that story on "Stay off the Penguins' logo in their locker room" is really trite. I guess when you work for a paper in Detroit, even special interest stories are negative.
