Atlantic Division
-Devils forward Brendan Shanahan did not play yesterday due to "maintenence," which is now apparently the new vogue injury term in the NHL.
-Rangers defenseman and former Penguin Michal Rozsival suffered a knee injury last night.
-Defenseman Wade Redden's first season with the Rangers isn't going all that well.
-Even if he's on a two-way contract, Islanders defenseman Jack Hillen has proven he's an NHL-caliber player.
-Have the Flyers found their identity?
Northeast Division
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Alex Auld made 29 saves and led the red-hot Senators to a 2-1 road win against the Rangers. Ottawa has won five consecutive games and nine of its past ten. The Rangers are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 84 points, two less than the Penguins who are in fifth place with 86 points.
-Senators forward Ryan Shannon was living the dream last night in Madison Square Garden.
-In a showdown of the Eastern Conference's top two teams, Michael Ryder and Marc Savard each had a goal and assist for the Bruins in who beat the Devils, 4-1. Former Penguins forward Mark Recchi added two assists. Fire Ray Shero. Tim Thomas made 41 saves in the win.
-The Bruins clinched the Northeast Division for the first time since 2003-04.
-Boston defenseman Zdeno Chara put the clamps on Devils forward Zach Parise.
-The Canadiens recalled forward Sergei Kostitsyn from Hamilton of the AHL.
-The firing of former coach Guy Carbonneau hasn't fixed anything in Montreal.
-Maple Leafs defenseman Tomas Kaberle is dealing with a hand injury.
-The Sabres miss injured goaltender Ryan Miller.
Southeast Division
-Carolina forward Matt Cullen (right) is dealing with a "lower-body" injury.
-The Lightning is trying to curse its opponents. Literally.
Central Division
-In his first game back from a knee injury that had sidelined him for 16 games, Patrick Sharp had two goals and an assist for the Blackhawks in a 4-1 defeat of the Kings. Martin Havlat added two goals while teammate Duncan Keith recorded three assists. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for Chicago.
-Don't mess with the Blackhawks' logo.
-Chicago recalled defenseman Jordan Hendry from Rockford of the AHL.
-Red Wings forward and former Penguin Marian Hossa reminded the world he will take less money to stay with the Red Wings long term.
-Predators forward Radek Bonk is set to return from an "upper-body" injury that has sidelined him for 12 games.
Northwest Division
-Niklas Backstrom made 31 saves and led the Wild to a 3-0 shutout of the Oilers. Owen Nolan led Minnesota with two goals. Forward Marian Gaborik played his first game since Dec. 23 and did not record a point. Teammate Mikko Koivu did suffer a knee injury.

-Don't mess with Owen Nolan's wardrobe.
-Flames coach Mike Keenan has mellowed out.
-Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo cast a lot of doubts on his future in Vancouver.
-Colorado captain Joe Sakic (right) has resumed skating. He has been sidelined since late November due to various injuries.
Pacific Division
-Ryan Getzlaf had two goals and an assist for the Ducks who routed the Coyotes, 6-2. Scott Niedermayer added a goal and two assists while teammate Chris Pronger recorded three assists. Shane Doan had a goal and an assist for Phoenix.
-The win gave the Ducks' playoff hopes a big boost.
-Washington, Pa. native George Parros found a few ways to contribute to Anaheim's win.
-A goal and an assist by Milan Michalek helped the Sharks beat the Avalanche, 3-1. Teammates Alexei Semenov and Marc-Edouard Vlasic each added two assists.
-If the Stars are going to reach the playoffs, they're going to do it by being aggressive.
-Dallas recalled forward Tom Wandell from Timra IK of the Swedish Elite League.
-Sharks forward Marcel Goc (knee) and defenseman Rob Blake ("lower body") are dealing with injuries.
Norris Division
-The field was set for the NCAA DIvision I Men's Tournament. Denver, Notre Dame, Michigan and Boston University are the No. 1 seeds.
-Adrian Dater, the Denver Post's Avalanche beat reporter, has a pretty good piece on the health of the newspaper industry.
