Penguins

-Mark Letestu had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-2 loss to the rival Philadelphia Phantoms.
-Billy Ryan had a two goals and three assists and led the Wheeling Nailers to an 8-5 rout of the rival Johnstown Chiefs. Bryan Ewing added a goal and an assist for Wheeling.
Atlantic Division
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Martin Brodeur made 22 saves for the Devils in a 3-1 win at Montreal. Brodeur tied Patrick Roy for the most goaltender win all-time in the NHL with 551. Patrik Elias had a goal and an assist for New Jersey while teammates Zach Parise and Travis Zajac each added two assists. From the "life isn't fair" department, Carey Price made 45 saves and lost. Montreal is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 80 points, just as many as the Penguins who are in sixth place. Montreal has a tiebreaker over the Penguins on account of having played fewer games.
-Montreal's fans gave Brodeur a standing ovation after the game:
-Brodeur wasn't the only Devil to tie a record last night. Elias tied John MacLean for the most points in franchise history with 701. Despite the mark, Elias gave the game puck to Brodeur.
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Arron Asham scored two goals and led the Flyers to a 4-2 defeat of the rival Rangers. Daniel Carcillo and Claude Giroux each added two assists for Philadelphia while Martin Biron made 39 saves in the win. Flyers coach John Stevens earned his 100th career win. One hundred puppies were drowned in celebration. The Flyers are in fourth place with 84 points, four more than the Penguins. The Rangers are in eighth place with 78 points.
-Flyers forward Scott Hartnell needs a dang hair cut.
-Islanders forward and former Penguin Richard Park returned to the lineup after missing three and a half weeks due to broken ribs.
Northeast Division
-Mikhail Grabovski had two goals an an assist for Toronto in a tight, defensive 8-6 defeat of the Flames. Jeff Finger added a goal and two assists for Toronto while teammate Alexei Ponikarovsky recorded four assists. Olli Jokinen had three goals and two assists for the Flames while teammates Jarome Iginla and Dion Phaneuf each added a goal and two assists.
-Toronto's Ben Ondrus had a pretty wild fight with Calgary's Warren Peters:
-The Sabres might've cost themselves a playoff spot last night.
-Montreal defenseman Patrice Brisebois played in his 1,000th career game last night.
Southeast Division
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Shootout goals by Alexander Semin and Alex Ovechkin gave the Capitals a 5-4 win against the rival Hurricanes. Semin had a goal and three assists in regulation while Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and Mike Green each had a goal an assist for Washington which ended a four-game home losing streak. Eric Staal led Carolina with a goal and two assists. The Hurricanes are in seventh place with 79 points, one less than the Penguins.
-You think the Penguins screw up their fair share of two-on-ones? That's nothing. The Capitals screwed up a five-on-one yesterday:
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: A shootout goal by Steven Stamkos gave the Lightning a 4-3 road win against the rival Panthers. Martin St. Louis had a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay in regulation while teammate Richard Petiot added two assists. David Booth led Florida with two goals and an assist. The Panthers are in ninth place with 78 points, two less than the Penguins.
-If anyone can explain this to us please be our guest. Right off the opening faceoff of this game, Florida's Ville Peltonen challenged Tampa Bay's giant Evgeny Artyukhin to a fight. It didn't work out so well for Peltonen:
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Brett Sterling's shootout goal gave the Thrashers a 4-3 win at Buffalo. Tobias Enstrom had two assist for Atlanta which has won five consecutive games. Derek Roy led the Sabres with a goal and an assist. Buffalo is in 10th place with 76 points, four less than the Penguins.
-Atlanta had recalled Sterling from Chicago of the AHL earlier in the day.
-Thrashers forward and former Penguin Colby Armstrong dispells all those Sidney Crosby/mutant rumors.
-With forward Sergei Fedorov dealing with an ailment, the Capitals recalled foward Keith Aucoin from Hershey of the AHL.
-Panthers defenseman Steve Eminger has been revived after being traded from Tampa Bay.
-He might not have been very well noticed, but the late Bill Davidson meant a lot to the Lightning as the team's owner.
-Former Panthers defenseman Brad Ference is now working as a firefighter in Calgary. You might remember Ference as the last player Mario Lemieux ever fought several seasons ago:
Central Division
-Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and led the Red Wings to a 5-2 win at St. Louis. Chris Osgood made 30 saves in the win. Detroit actually scored three goals in a 46-second span. T.J. Oshie led the Blues with a goal and an assist.

-Detroit forward Valtteri FIlppula is dealing with a back injury.
-Pekka Rinne made a "whopping" 18 saves and led the Predators to a 2-0 shutout win at Phoenix. Ilya Bryzgalov had 31 saves in the loss.
-The Blues demoted forward Trent Whitfield to Peoria of the AHL.
Northwest Division
-John-Michael Liles' overtime goal gave the Avalanche a 3-2 win at Edmonton. Liles also had two assists.
-Injured New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez sought advice from Wild forward Marian Gaborik on how to deal with a hip injury. Rodriguez apparently didn't need any advice on how to be a brilliant but gutless talent.
-Wild enforcer Derek Boogaard isn't a fan of the NHL's new proposed fight rules.
-So far so good for Olli Jokinen in Calgary.
-Not so good so far for Ales Kotalik in Edmonton.

Pacific Division
-Shootout goals by Joe Pavelski and Jonathan Cheechoo gave the Sharks a 2-1 win against the Kings. Evgeni Nabokov made 23 saves for San Jose. Los Angeles' Erik Ersberg stopped 38 shots in the loss.
-Nicklas Grossman's overtime goal gave the Stars a 3-2 win against the Wild. Steve Ott had two goals for the Stars while teammate Loui Eriksson had assists on all three of his team's goals. Andrew Brunette had a goal and an assist for Minnesota.
-Sharks forward Travis Moen makes his return to Anaheim.
Smythe Division
-Should the NHL still award "loser points?"
