Penguins

-ESPN's E.J. Hradek says the Penguins are back.

-Mark Letetsu had two goals and led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguin to a 4-1 win against the Norfolk Admirals. Dustin Jeffrey added a goal and an assist while Connor James and Jeff Taffe each had two assists. John Curry made 31 saves in the win.

-Curry set the AHL Penguins' franchise mark for wins with 49.

-Wilkes-Barre/Scranton recalled forward Luca Caputi and defenseman Jon D'Aversa from Wheeling.

Atlantic Division

-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Nik Antropov had a goal and an assist for his new team, the Rangers, which edged the Bruins, 4-3. Sean Avery had an assist in his first game back in Madison Square Garden. Zdeno Chara had a goal and an assist for Boston. The Rangers are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 76 points, just as many as the Penguins who are in eighth place. The Rangers have a tiebreaker over the Penguins on account of fewer games played.

-Check out what Boston's Shawn Thornton did during his fight with New York's Colton Orr:

-Madison Square Garden is one place Sean Avery is beloved.

-Yann Danis made 40 saves for the Islanders who held off the Coyotes, 3-2. New York has won four out its past five games. Matthew Lombardi led the Coyotes with two assists.

-Who is the Flyers' top goaltender: Martin Biron or Antero Niittymaki?

Northeast Division

-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Carey Price made 31 saves and led the Canadiens to a 3-1 win at Dallas. The Stars lost at home for the sixth consecutive game. Montreal is in fifth place with 77 points, one more than the Penguins.

-Today's obvious headline involving Toronto overlord Brian Burke: "Burke scoffs at thought of ban on fighting."

-The Maple Leafs recalled defensemen Phil Oreskovic and Anton Stralman from their AHL affiliate.

-New Toronto goaltender Martin Gerber (right) expects "weird" feelings when he faces his former team, the Senators, tonight.

-The Senators recalled defenseman Brian Lee from Binghamton of the AHL.

-Why have the Capitals lost four consecutive games?

-Even at 41, new Bruins forward and former Penguin Mark Recchi feels young.

Southeast Division

-Bryan Little had two goals and led the Thrashers to a 5-2 win against the Flames. Ilya Kovalchuk added a goal and an assist for Atlanta. The Flames have yet to win in their former home city since the Thrashers came into the league in 1999.

-Some good news for the Penguins. Panthers forward Nathan Horton is out indefinitely due to a broken finger.

-The Hurricanes recalled forward Brandon Sutter from Albany of the AHL.

-Can the Lightning sink any lower?

Central Division

-James Mirtle examines hockey in Nashville.

-Rick Nash's three goals Saturday against Detroit was the first unassisted hat trick since Montreal's Maurice Richard in 1948.

-Red Wings forward and former Penguin Marian Hossa has resumed skating after being sidelined with neck and knee injuries.

-Even Detroit's fans are booing goaltender Chris Osgood (right) these days.

Northwest Division

-Stephane Veilleux had two goals and led the Wild to a 3-2 win at Anaheim. Nicklas Backstrom made 36 saves in the win. The Ducks have gone 1-3-1 since acquiring Ryan Whitney from the Penguins. Promote Ray Shero.

-Ryan Smyth and Marek Svatos each had a goal and an assist for the Avalanche who romped the Blackhawks, 5-1. Tyler Arnason added three assists for Colorado with snapped a six-game losing streak. Jonathan Toews scored Chicago's lone goal. He has 11 goals in his last 11 games.

-Minnesota defenseman Kurtis Foster got back into the lineup Saturday for the first time since breaking his femur nearly a year ago.

-Even after he's done serving a five-game suspension, Wild goon Derek Boogaard could have trouble getting back on the ice.

-Minnesota recalled defenseman John Scott from Houston of the AHL.

-Today is the fifth anniversary of former Avalanche forward Steve Moore being attacked by former Canucks forward Todd Bertuzzi.

-After suffering a pretty scary eye injury, Oilers forward and captain Ethan Moreau (right) is wearing a visor.

-The Canucks are doing a moms' trip.

Pacific Division

-The Stars signed forward Brian Sutherby to a two-year contract extension worth $1.625 million.

-Dallas forward Steve Ott lost a tooth yesterday. Literally.

Adams Division

-John Tavares broke the record former Penguins forward Peter Lee for career goals in the OHL with his 215th goal yesterday.

Derek Boogaard plays for the Wild.  He's Aaron's much bigger brother.
