Crosby to play - 3-5-09

According to the Penguins' Web site, team captain Sidney Crosby (above) will return to the lineup tonight in Florida. The team has gone 5-0-0 without him in the lineup in the lineup this season. He has 79 points (23 goals, 56 assists) in 60 games.

EN Says: Why not bench him until they lose a game?

This is arguably the Penguins' biggest game of the season until this point. This is a team they're fightning for a playoff spot with. It's a "four-point" game if you believe in cliches. SIdney Crosby is a big addition to a hot team.

And yes, our Winter Classic photo fetish strikes again.

NOTE:

-So much for all that chemistry Chris Kunitz seemed to have with Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy. Crosby skated on a line in practice today with Kunitz and Bill Guerin.

-Florida forward David Booth will be a game-time decision due to a rib injury.

-Panthers defenseman Nick Boynton, who just served a three-game suspension, will be scratched in favor of newly-acquired blue liner Steve Eminger.

I can't wait for this game. If Sid can play his perimeter game and distribute passes to guys in front of the net and in the slot...this could get very interesting.

Why bother?  The season's over.  Right?

I agree, Goat.  We all should be anxiously watching the Grapefruit League games at this point.

"It's a "four-point" game if you believe in cliches."

Hmm, I don't know if that's really a cliche.  As a more beaten cliche says...it is what it is.

Also, success breeds chemistry, not the other way around.

Hat trick for Guerin tonight. Sid has eight assists. The fans are happy...

"Does Crosby get run for his Jan. 3 mugging of Brett McLean? "

From that post about Booth.  Hilarious.

C'mon, I am not buying into this whole thing.  The team has just been playing better and over the course of the injury there were some not so good teams.  I'm more than happy to have Crosby back.  Besides, Malkin didn't look all that great against TB.

You need to upgrade your

so we got:

kunitz - crosby - geurin

sykora - malkin - fedotenko

kennedy - staal - cooke

adams - talbot - godard

does this look right?  did i forget someone?

oh yeah, dupuis - where does he fit in?

Ah, damn, should've clicked on the link.

I think Gonchar being out may hurt more than Crosby coming back.

"oh yeah, dupuis - where does he fit in?"

More like where does Godard fit in.  The answer is with a plate of nachos in the press box.  Adams might also get the scratch.

I used to think girls whistled at me as I walked by, but it was just sarcasm detectors going off.

Godard will sit. They'll want to see what Adams brings to the table tonight.

If they're already talking about "running" Crosby, I might want Godard in the line-up.  Talbot has been injured all year, if he's not 100%, he might benefit from a game off.

Good point Goat. Need the team to stand up for the cap'n this evening.

Dupuis is actually playing well on the third line. He's a good roleplayer, very hardworking guy, who'll probably be better used from now on since he won't have to play with Sid.
