Central Division
-The Blackhawks Niklas Hjalmarsson (what a name) from Rockford of the AHL.
-The Blues demoted defenseman Steve Wagner and forward Trent Whitfield to Peoria of the AHL.
-Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk (hip flexor) and defenseman Brad Stuart (knee) were dinged up last night.
-Blue Jackets goaltender Pascal Leclaire will have season-ending surgery on his ankle Friday.
-Columbus' starting goaltender, Steve Mason, will skip the YoungStars Lame Game to rest his back.
-Predators general manager David Poile shot down speculation that coach Barry Trotz (right) is in danger of being fired.
Northwest Division
-A goal by Ales Hemsky with just 34.9 seconds left in regulation gave the Oilers a 4-3 win against the Blue Jackets. Hemsky had a two goals and two assists while teammate Lubomir Visnovsky added a goal and an assist. Jason Williams led Columbus with a goal and an assist.

-Enver Lisin scored two goals and led the Coyotes to a 6-3 win against the Red Wings, their first victory against Detroit at home in nearly five years. Teammate Derek Morris added a goal and an assist while Ilya Bryzgalov made 34 saves in the win. Nicklas Lidstrom led Detroit with two goals.
-Coyotes defenseman David Hale is not a fan of seafood apparently:
-Patrick Marleau's overtime goal gave the Sharks a 2-1 win against the Canucks. Marleau also had an assist while teammate Joe Thornton had two assists. Claude Lemieux had 7:08 of ice time in his Sharks debut and recorded three shots. The Canucks have lost six consecutive games and have gone 1-4-2 since Mats Sundin joined them in the lineup.

-Kyle Calder had a goal and an assist and helped the Kings win at Minnesota, 5-2. Teammates Drew Doughty and Matt Greene each added two assists. Marek Zidlicky led the Wild with a goal and an assist and recorded his 200th career point.
-Two of the league's biggest maulers went at it last night; Los Angeles' Raitis Ivanans (6-foot-4, 256 pounds) versus Minnesota's Derek Boogaard (6-foot-8, 257 pounds):

-We're going to go ahead and predict the Steelers will win the Super Bowl. Why? The Coyotes gave Cardinals special teams ace and former Steeler Sean Morey a jersey last night.
