Pens should just end the undisclosed injury BS and let their fans in on whats going on. Another team has already done it, I believe Montreal, could be wrong though. Seriously, what is the positive in keeping everything secret? Nothing, there is none. Its not football where you spend a week getting ready for a team, and if a player is or isn't there it screws up your entire game plan. You play 82 games in a season and get ready for each game pretty much the same.

The NHL roster limit is 23.  When Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang, Rob Scuderi and Max Talbot were all unavailable to play the Penguins were forced to call up Pesonen and Bill Thomas to dress 18 skaters and 2 goalies.  If Crosby, Letang and Scuderi were healthy scratches wouldn't Talbot have been forced onto injured reserve to keep the Penguins within the required roster limit?
