Penguins

Atlantic Division

-Forward Brendan Shanahan has still not officially signed with the Devils.

-Even if the Islanders stink, their rivalry with the Rangers is still pretty intense.

Northeast Division

-The Bruins put one of their top players on injured reserve yesterday. Forward Phil Kessel  (right) is suffering from mononucleosis. Amazingly this wasn't listed as an "upper-body" injury. Boston recalled forward Martin St. Pierre and goaltender Tuukka Rask from Providence of the AHL. Additionally, defenseman Matt Lashoff and goaltender Kevin Regan were demoted to Providence.

-Maple Leafs overlord Brian Burke claims most of the trade offers he's received are "garbage."

-Senators general manager Bryan Murray is worried about his team's chances of reaching the playoffs.

Southeast Division

-Vincent Lecavalier had a goal and an assist and led the Lightning to a 3-1 win at Los Angeles. Former Penguins forward Mark Recchi added a goal for Tampa Bay. Fire Ray Shero. Kings rookie defenseman Drew Doughty, the No. 2 overall pick in last year's draft, left the game in the second period after being hit by Tampa Bay forward Evgeny Artyukhin.

-The Lightning recalled defenseman Vladimir Mihalik from Norfolk of the AHL.

-Tampa Bay general manager Brian Lawton denied speculation that Vincent Lecavalier is being shopped around, but indicated no player on his roster, including Lecavalier, is untouchable.

-Are the Capitals looking past their game with the Oilers tonight? They're already talking about the Penguins.

-Regardless, their matchup with the Penguins is pretty big.

-Washington defenseman John Erskine is expected to return tonight from a concussion.

-Hurricanes forward Scott Walker has a sandwich named after him.

-The Panthers recalled defenseman Cory Murphy from Rochester of the AHL and placed him on waivers.
