Central Division
-Jiri Hudler and former Penguins forward Mikael Samuelsson each had a goal and an assist for the Red Wings in a 3-1 defeat of the Sabres. Fire Craig Patrick. Former Penguins goaltender Ty Conklin made 21 saves in the win. Fire Ray Shero. From the "life's not fair" department, Ryan Miller made 45 saves and lost.
-Nikita Filatov scored his first career hat trick and led the Blue Jackets to a 4-2 win against the Wild. Filatov became the first rookie in Columbus history to net three goals in a game. Teammate Jakub Voracek added three assists while Mike Peca recorded two assists. Minnesota was led by Antti Miettinen and Marek Zidlicky who each had a goal and an assist.
-Minnesota's Craig Weller had a pretty intense brawl with Columbus' Jared Boll:
-An injury to Rick Nash created a chance for Filatov last night.
-David Legwand scored two goals and led the Predators to a 4-1 win against the Blackhawks. Nashville got two assists each from Ryan Suter and Joel Ward while Pekka Rinne made 34 saves in the win.
-Predators forward Steve Sullivan played his first game nearly two years after being sidelined with a back injury.
-Nashville captain Jason Arnott suffered a "lower-body" injury last night.
-The Blue Jackets acquired forward Mike Blunden from the Blackhawks in exchange for forward Adam Pineault.
-Craig Custance of The Sporting News is reporting the agent for former Penguins forward Marian Hossa (right) has started talking to the Red Wings about a contract extension. Fire Ray Sh... ah... nevermind.

-Red Wings forward Darren McCarty had surgery for a sports hernia.

Northwest Division
-The Canucks demoted forward Jason Jaffray to Manitoba of the AHL.
-Colorado forward Wojtek Wolski likes being stuck in the middle.
-The health of the oil industry is pretty important to the city of Calgary and the Flames.
Pacific Division
-Shootout goals from Peter Mueller, Steven Reinprecht and Kyle Turris led the Coyotes to a 1-0 win against the Stars. Phoenix's Ilya Bryzgalov made 28 saves in the shutout win while Marty Turco of Dallas stopped 28 shots in his "shutout."

-Dallas' Mike Ribeiro had a pretty nifty goal himself as well:
-Two goals from Patrick Marleau and two assists from Joe Thornton lifted the Sharks to a 4-2 win at Vancouver. The Canucks were led by Henrik Sedin who recorded two assists while Mats Sundin scored his first goal with Vancouver.
-Rinkside View, a series of non-traditional camera angles used by the local affiliates for the Ducks and Kings, was given the boot.
-The Ducks have relied on a quite a few call-ups from their AHL affiliate, the Iowa Chops.
-One of those call-ups was forward Matt Beleskey.
