A preview of the Sabres.
(Winter Classic photo fetish strikes yet again.)
Record: 16-13-4 Leading Scorer: Thomas Vanek, 30 points (24 goals, 6 assists). Last Game: 4-3 overtime loss at Montreal Saturday. Clarke MacArthur had a goal and an assist for Buffalo. Last Game against the Penguins: 4-3 win in Pittsburgh, Dec. 8. Ryan Miller (above) made 29 saves in the win. The Penguins lost despite two goals from Ruslan Fedotenko. Sabres Player We Would Bet Money On Scoring: Derek Roy. He has points in nine consecutive games. Ex-Penguins on the Sabres: Patrick Lalime, G.
Ex-Sabres on the Penguins: Philippe Boucher, D; Miroslav Satan, RW; Andre Savard, assistant coach.
Useless Sabres Trivia: Penguins defenseman Philippe Boucher was a first-round draft pick of the Sabres in 1991. He his one of four former Buffalo first-rounders to have eventually suited up for the Penguins. The others are Tom Barrasso (1983), Wayne Primeau (1994) and Mike Ramsey (1979). Best Sabres YouTube Video We Could Find: Former Sabres goon Rob Ray had some interesting theories on crowd control:
Notes:
-The Penguins bussed it to Buffalo. Is "bussed" a word?
-No word yet if this guy drove them and "altered" the bus:
-Marc-Andre Fleury and Ryan Miller are expected to start in net.
-Ryan Whitney is ready to play tomorrow against Tampa Bay. Pascal Dupuis is doubtful for tonight.
-Sabres forward Maxime Afinogenov isn't exactly optimistic about his future in Buffalo.
-Buffalo forwards Paul Gaustad and Patrick Kaleta are dinged up.
-Sabres forward Jason Pominville is a blogger:
-Tonight's game is on Versus. You'll need to go to your old roommate's cousin's co-worker's step-brother's house to watch it.
-Our live blog begins approximately 7 p.m. Please tune in.

"Seeked" however is still not a word.
Sudden thought: Might this be some tactic on the part of Coach Therrien to motivate his players? Something on the lines of "You've played so badly lately that you don't deserve to fly on a plane"?
Or is this more of a cost-cutting measure?
the weather was potentially inclement dps, so instead of risking it they chose to bus it on up to buffalo
