Those Thrashers jerseys don't look all that bad anymore - 10-13-08

Life is all about perspective. You might feel poor making $50,000 in comparison to someone pulling in $80,000. But to another person only earning $30,000, you might as well be a millionaire.

So when EN reader Gareth Langley of Southampton, U.K. recently e-mailed us with some information about the uniforms of a French rugby team, our perspective on the Reebok Edge-Super-Duper-Mega-Ultra-Awesome-Humungo-Women-Will-Want-You Uniform System jerseys changed quite a bit.

"Paris Rugby team Stade Francais have just released a new third strip to go with their two "alluring and fabulous" home and away kits.

Home Kit:

Away Kit:

These two are bad enough, just think of props, with physiques similar to offensive linemen wearing those two jerseys before they hit you with this 'Warhol Inspired' jersey:

I just hope that the guy who designed this is planning to make any jerseys in the USA."

-Gareth Langley

EN says:

Dear Lord those are hideous. We will never complain about the Reebok Edge-Super-Duper-Mega-Ultra-Awesome-Humungo-Women-Will-Want-You Uniform System jerseys again.

(OK, maybe not.)

For good measure, we found an action shot of one of Stade Francais in action:

EMPTY NETTER ASSISTS

Penguins

-The Penguins aren't concerned about signing Jordan Staal (above, center) to a contract extension quite yet.

-What's up with Sidney Crosby's line?

Atlantic Division

-The Flyers have promoted 2008 first-round draft pick Luca Sbisa (above) to their second defensive pairing.

-The Devils' win in Pittsburgh Saturday was the third one in franchise history in which they came back from a 1-0 deficit with less than five minutes remaining in regulation.

-Even with a 4-0-0 record, the Rangers aren't taking it easy.

Northeast Division

-Senators forward Daniel Alfredsson has no timetable for returning from his knee injury.

-The Sabres plan on using backup goaltender and former Penguin Patrick Lalime this week.

Southeast Division

-Have a Florida drivers license? You can get a Florida Panthers ticket for free.

-Panthers forward Richard Zednik played in his first game Saturday since suffering a gruesome neck injury last season.

-The Thrashers are giving center Bryan Little a try at winger.

-The Hurricanes are eager for a shot at the Red Wings.

-Slowly but surely, Lightning forward Jeff Halpern is recovering from a knee injury.

-The Lightning are expected to take a look at former Rangers defenseman Marek Malik.

Central Division

-Red Wings goaltender and former Penguin Ty Conklin learned how to fly "floatplanes" during the lockout.

-The Red Wings-Maple Leafs game on Thursday offered Versus its best season-opening ratings ever.

-The Blackhawks aren't worried about their power play yet. It has gone 0-for-8 so far this season.

-The Blue Jackets need to make a decision on the future of goaltending coach Clint Malarchuk.

-The Blues are moving rookie forward T.J. Oshie to the first line.

Northwest Division

-Dustin Penner's goal with 5.4 seconds left in regulation lifted the Oilers to a thrilling 3-2 win against the Avalanche.

-Penner's goal:

-Those uniforms are beautiful.

-Colorado defenseman Adam Foote played in his 1000th career game last night.

-Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa is dealing with a knee injury.

Pacific Division

-Two goals from Shane Doan helped the Coyotes defeat the Ducks, 4-2.

-Brian Boucher made 21 saves for the Sharks in a 1-0 shutout of the Kings.

-Los Angeles forward Anze Kopitar really hates glass. Check out what he did last night:

-Kings defenseman Jack Johnson is dealing with an "upper-extremity" injury.

-Stars forward Sean Avery (above) is already operating with a short leash in Dallas.

-Expectations are high in Anaheim.

Thanks, Seth.  I tuned in hoping to read the latest Pens tidbits (Shanahan signs?!) only to almost lose my lunch over a picture of "manly" men in pink tights.

I think I would prefer another Paul Bissonette human interest story over that!

There seems little wonder why the French could never defend themselves in war time.
