Nolan signs with Minnesota

Flames forward Owen Nolan has signed a two-year deal for $5.5 million with the Minnesota Wild.

EN Says: Solid signing. Nolan is sort of like Gary Roberts in that he offers a combination of toughness, leadership and scoring ability. He won't quite replace Brian Rolston's 30-goal potential, but he'll put his share of pucks in the net. Nolan's age (36) and playing style can leave him battered however. The price tag seems a bit high for a player who hasn't hit the 20-goal mark since the 2002-03 season.

Nolan is good add, but as Seth points out, there are good reasons his salary could/should have been (significantly) lower.

Minnesota overpaid.

by a good amount.
