We have our first reaction to today's Bonusgate charges from a Democrat -- gubernatorial hopeful Tom Knox:
"Tom Corbett should resign. Unfortunately Pennsylvanians will never know who
was not charged or investigated as the Attorney General seeks to solidify GOP
support in his primary campaign for Governor. Additionally there is a perception
that Corbett's actions as a prosecutor are calculated to benefit his campaign
for Governor. Tom Corbett easily could have avoided these perceptions, which may
not be fair or true, by handing "bonusgate" off to his successor after he
announced his candidacy for Governor; instead Tom Corbett is choosing headlines
over ethics."
"This is the very reason the Virginia Attorney General resigned when he ran
for Governor, and it is why many municipal governments have enacted similar
requirements for politicians seeking higher office - such as Philadelphia and
Montgomery County. "
