Jim Roddey just called into the PCNC Nighttalk show and took some swipes at (former Republican) Kevin Acklin's campaign themes -- without naming Acklin directly.
The panelists -- including 2007 GOP mayoral candidate Mark DeSantis -- were talking about why Republicans didn't even field a candidate this year and Roddey called in to the show to complain about the issues discussed during the mayoral campaign. "No one talked about the finances of this city . . . Nobody talked about the issues. It seemed most of the discussion was about neighborhoods and needing more police."
Of course, the neighborhood/police thing was one of the main drivers of the Acklin campaign.
When PCNC/WPXI's David Johnson asked Roddey which Republican leader will step up to run for mayor, the county's GOP chair paused, and then said he expects DeSantis to run for Allegheny County executive in 2011.
Johnson asked DeSantis to respond, but he refused.
