I know many friends think otherwise, but allow me to present the case that -- even among other fads -- Twitter is set for an embarrassingly short shelf life.

Exhibit A (via Rob Owen) is this "interview" between George Stephanopoulos and John McCain, which exhibits everything $&*%%# about television news and DC in general -- shallowness, time wasting (it took an hour to do it), narcissism and Ann Coulter. Here it is:

Bravo and amen, Tim!

Let's be honest: Twitter never even had to jump the shark; it was conceived somewhere above the dorsal fin, and by the time the first few people had begun sending their tweets, it was already back on the beach, taking off its water skis and hoping that its leather jacket didn't get too wet.
