All the more reason the McCain camp needs a home run tonight from Sarah Palin -- the campaign is pulling up stakes in the battleground state of Michigan, according to Politico, and redirecting assets to Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida.
(UPDATE) The McCain camp confirmed the pull-out tonight, and says the resources will be sent to Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, two states they feel "really confident about." The camp's political director projected confidence, saying if McCain wins states that usually vote Republican -- including Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, Missouri and Indiana, where he is tied with Obama or leading him -- he will have 260 electoral votes. Flipping Pennsylvania -- which Obama of course lost to Hillary Rodham Clinton -- would get him over the 270 needed to win.
Pennsylvania polling, a McCain official claimed, looks good for the Arizona senator among "a considerable portion of Democrats outside the Philadelphia media market."
