Every once in a while I will give an update about what the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's music director Manfred Honeck is up to when he is not here. At least I will try. It's crazy enough keeping up on what he is doing at Heinz Hall alone.
One of his "other gigs" is general director at the Stuttgart State Opera (Staatsoper Stuttgart). He has been there for a few years already, and will open the new season Oct. 26 with Verdi's "Aida" with director Karsten Wiegand, Maria José Siri as Aida and Hector Sandoval as Radames and Marina Prudenskaja as Amneris.

By the way, isn't the State Opera in a gorgeous hall? I have not been there, but these two photos makes me want to visit right away.
