Pretty sure Bob is correct and it's "Richie" Weeks in Milwaukie.

One of the espn.com guys wrote a piece also endorsing sanchez

as a legit all-star and not a charity representative beneficiary of the

"every team gets a rep" rule. Excited though I am by ZD's return to

form, I'd think he may need to put it together for a couple consecutive

seasons to get real consideration.

Hopefully this posts OK -- is my first one and I seem to be having

some weird formatting issues...

I disagree with you Bob nine times out of ten, and since I agreed with you that the McLouth trade was helpful, were back to the nine again. I definitely like Freddy Sanchez and appreciate his work ths year, but there is no doubt in my mind that Zach Duke should be the all-star rep. He would have even more wins than he has if only the offense, including Freddy, had gotten him a few runs. He has kept us in every game he's pitched save for one or two games.

I don't think that all-star representation is equal to who the team's most valuable player is though, because if that were the case, Jack Wilson would be my choice. His defense has contributed to more wins this season than any other intangible. That stuff just get noticed by anyone who doesn't follow the team regularly. Take away Jack's defense, and our team ERA balloons.

One other note, I almost think the MLB has already made plans to add Duke to the roster by the recent news that they have added a 13th pitcher to the rosters, bringing the total roster up to 33 players.

I've always wondered whether Freddy would hit .400 by being more selective and laying off terrible pitches in the dirt, waaaay outside and otherwise HBP pitches? Several times a year he negates getting hit by swinging rather than ducking. Hard to fault a guy hitting .316, but I just did. Hey, Freddy, learn the strike zone---Ted Williams needs some company and Yogi Berra never came close to .400. The odds say you won't either with that approach. With your ability and bat control, you can do better!

Bob, Duke is 19th in ERA for all of MLB, but 10th among NL'ers. Looks like the All-Star team can accomodate 13 pitchers, so there might be a spot for Zach. Here's hoping both Zach AND Freddy make the team. I still suspect that Russell is getting messages from the front office to rest Freddy & keep his plate appearances down, and a berth on the All-Star would help thwart their efforts.

Outside of Polanco (Detroit Tigers), Freddy Sanchez has the highest batting average for a 2B for the last 5 years. A trivia question from the Atlanta Braves acouple of weeks ago.

Bob, Rickie (not Richie) Weeks is out for the year due to injury. Had he not been injured, he would be the 2nd best 2b in the NL. I agree, though, Sanchez should be in on merit.
