Chris Cain, who doesn't get to the Burgh very often, is due in town tonight at the Thunderbird Cafe in Lawrenceville (where they have best blues bar beer in town). His sizzling guitar and big voice are worth an evening of your time,
I caught him at Moondog's in May of '08, and he cranked out an evening of tough blues, jazzy guitar licks and just plain lots of good music.
In other news, BlueNotes has been a travelin' man for the past week or so, and the blog was saved ony by Bluzer's lively comments. But he plans to settle down next week with some CD reviews and snappy patter -- at least until Labor Day weekend, when he'll be back on the road again for the unofficial end of summer (the white shoes go back in the closet).
HoneyBoy Dog update: Some of you may remember that HoneyBoy Dog is if the official dog of the BlueNotes blog. Well, his history is that he was found at the Pet Adoption League in Yukon (that's in Pa.), and we're all happy that we found him there. What does that have to with the blues? Well, I noticed on a local blues schedule that the Jimmy Adler band is set to play at a place called HQ132 in Yukon on Saturday night (It looks like they host a lot of area blues bands). Coincidence? I think not. But we do wonder if HQ132 is anything like Area 51.
