Cincy blues and some great New Orleans photos

BlueNotes is actually on a tiny vacation, but could not let his faithful readers (and maybe a few faithless ones as well) go without at least a little blues news.

First, I hope some of you went to see Walter Trout at Moondog's last night. He's one of the tastiest of the bluesrockmen. Comments are welcome. And I hope more went to see him than turned out for the superb singing of John Nemeth Thursday night at the Thunderbird Cafe. I hate to keep harping on this, but if we want the blues to keep coming to town, we need to show up and support the clubs that bring them to us.

Next, here's an article from the Cincy Enquirer about the Cincinnatti blues festival over this past weekend. I heard good things about it from some people at the Burgh fest last month.

Finally, some great photos from the great blues lensman Joe Rosen, at this year's New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival,  in an article at ModernGuitars.com.  Joe is an old CMU grad, who I knew back in the days of Mancini's and Fat City in Swissvale. He's still going strong and I had a chance to catch up with him a little (not nearly enough) at the Chicago Blues Festival. He's a professional photographer operating out of New Your City, but his heart is in the right place (with the blues), and he roams the country taking fine photos.

PS -- The Wheeling Heritage Music BluesFest '08 is coming up this weekend, and they have an excellent lineup scheduled. I hope to be there for at least some of the weekend.

One more thing. Now that you can post your own comments, let me know what you'd like to see more of here. Who knows, maybe it will even happen.
