Trip to Canton: Steelers artifacts

Following up on yesterday's post on my trip to Canton, here are a bunch of photos of Steeler-related stuff in the Hall.

(Note: I took close up pictures of many of the bronze busts of the Steelers enshrinees, but owing to the dim lighting and the limited capabilities of my point & shoot, the photos came out poorly, so I've chosen not to display them.)

056

Excellent old-timey Bobby Layne helmet.

069

A decade of defense.

059

Mean Joe hangin' next to Sweetness.

060

Think this helmet has a nick or two on it?

067

The first of three Steelers WRs to win a Super Bowl MVP. Not bad for a 'running' team, eh?

061

Bradshaw's uniform from Super Bowl XIV

010

Jack Splat. A short hop from Kent State to Canton, with a decade of dominance in Pittsburgh in between.

058

No word if these particular shoes were the culprits in Lambert's turf toe.

083

Lynn Swann's game ball from a Monday night beatdown of San Francisco in 1978.

066

Hail to the Chief.

012

The PG in Canton ... go figure.

068

Dobre Shoe-nka

013

Canton wouldn't be complete without a Terrible Towel ...

072

... Or a Toalla Terrible.

078

Both teams shine, but only one cheated.

081

Cowher's Super Bowl XL Gatorade bath bucket is in the Hall, but will The Chin join it?

071

One of the newer artifacts on display ... will Santonio himself be enshrined someday? Time will tell, but his pal #86 has to be a lock. And maybe #7?

080

Picture doesn't do it justice.

086

Rod is God. The Steelers' most recent inductee.

036

It's hardly a stretch to say that the fella in the picture will be the next Steeler in the hall, unless a very-deserving Dirt Dawson beats him to it.

Rod is definitely NOT God.

In fact, like all of us, Rod wouldn't be worthy of being a bacterium in God's slop bucket.

^ people take stuff way too seriously.

Its a travesty that Dermotti Dawson isn't yet in the hall.

That is rather funny, BB. And to clarify, the "Rod is God" line was a reference to a sign reading that which used to regularly hang at Three Rivers Stadium. Not unlike the "Lambert's Lunatics" and "Greg Lloyd: Just Plain Nasty" signs of the same variety.

If somebody named "Schadenfreude" embarrasses himself, and I taking enjoyment his misfortune, what do we call this?

Also "Lynn Swann's game ball from a Monday night beatdown of San Francisco in 1978"   I WAS AT THAT GAME!!! The only Steeler game I've ever been able to attend. Remember I said I live out west? Was in So. Oregon at the time -mostly Raider Country, there. Drove down to Candlestick Park -well, my mom did the driving ;-)  -along with my best friend. Was in hostile territory, of course, but nobody bothered a kid waving a Steelers pennant. Still got that pennant I bought at the game. Steelers won 24-7. But the big news in SF that day was that Supervisor Dan White shot and killed Mayor Moscone and Sup. Harvey Milk, earlier in the day. (It was sort of like San Francisco's own 9/11 or 11/22/63 for everybody else... but not for ME! :-)  )

Great to see this photo of the football. Thanks for posting!
